I'd agree that it's not suitable for teaching, but it's even worse than
the HTML TR for readability.
OTOH on of the authors (Lie & Bos) also did a very readable book on CSS
that is useful as a teaching guide.

Apart form being 9 years out of date.
Head First is pretty good, and certainly current.
