I never see this writing style :(
You better use a table to do so, something like

<table style="border: 1px solid #000000">
<tr>
<td><img alt="astronaut" src="img/img0001.gif"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>This is the caption for the photo </td>
</tr>
</table>
