Try this, with the following provisos
#1 - You're hosted with Geocities. Their hosting changes pages that
you upload, sufficient to make a mockery of any serious web design. If
you care about web design, you just can't host with Geocities.
#2 - I've hacked the middle of this page around to make it workable
and valid. I haven't fixed the whole page and I haven't made it perfect
- there's still 3.2 code in there, but it's not really harmful.
# 3 I'm posting the changed fragment via Usenet for discussion, but I
don't know how much damage it will suffer in transit so I've also
uplaoded it it to the web here
http://codesmiths.com/dingbat/lj/violin/violinwebringcode.html
I hope this is helpful to you - please post with any further questions.
<p>In order to join the ring you will need two elements: the graphic
image and the block of source code.</p>
<ul>
<li>
<h3>Image:</h3>
<p>Save the image to your web site.
<br>You may find that your browser allows you to right-click on the
image and use "Save As" or "Save Image As":
<center><img src="viulu1.gif" alt="Logo for the Violin Webring"
title="Logo for the Violin Webring" ></center>
</li>
<li>
<h3>Source Code:</h3>
<p>Copy and paste the following into your web page:
<pre style="padding: 1em; margin: 1em; border: thin solid black;
background-color: #eeeeee; color: #000; overflow: scroll;" >
<!-- Begin ViolinWebRing code -->
<div style="margin: 1em auto; padding: 1em; border: thick ridge;
width: 14em;" >
<a href="http://www.geocities.com/techfiddle/TOC.html"
title="View the current members of the Violin Webring"
