what is wrong with sysfiles tab

Posted by Matik on 10/12/06 13:30

Hi,

MSSQL 2000 Sp3a
MS XP Pro all newest patches.

Wierd situation. When I tryied to change the autogrowth parameter
(using EM) for my database, I've recieved error like:
Error 5041: MODIFY FILE failed. File 'DATABASE_NAME
' does not exists.

Well, I've checked the sysfiles, and the names are correct. The only
funny thing is, there is a lot of blanks after DATABASE_NAME and
DATABASE_NAME_Log.
Since name column is nchar, it is obvious.

So where is the problem?!
I also find out, that I can not shrink files, using EM (using dbcc from
QA works fine, in case, I'm using file index and not name).

I think, there is some major settings problem I'm expieriencing.
Once, long time ago, I was restoring database from a backup ... since I
can remember, before this operation, I haven't had this problem.

Any ideas?

Best regards

Matik
