Dan, if http://deercreekcg.com is the site you're speaking to, it really
needs fixing. I tried running the validator, but it choked on your site.

The very first byte, html> is wrong, there's no doctype, and that's only the
beginning of your troubles.

All that said, you'll be wanting to use CSS and absolute position your left
column so it won't scroll.
