There are lots of php+mysql programming books that give specific
examples of how to do this sort of thing. Hasn't the professor assigned
one of them for the class? Slashdot has reviews of technical books you
can scan. Sitepoint has all sorts of php books. And of course, there's
the O'Reilley site.
