SWF is the flash file loaded by the browser. FLV is a video file
either streamed by a Adobe Media Server or progressively loaded from a
web server to a SWF "client". I.e. it's not a file format that any
browser can play. The browser loads the Flash plugin to play the SWF
file, which in turn fetches the FLV file and displays in the SWF file,
which may or may not have controls to control the video.
