The news server has become useless for me, too ... for weeks. It usually
times out and I can not even retrieve posts. When it finally does, if I
take the time to reply to a post, by the time I hit send I have lost my
connection and then it times out trying to reconnect. I have quit trying
to even read the news group for now.
I use Thunderbird, via Comcast. Connection to news.php.net times out.
