The name of the image will be in the following variable
$_FILES['ud_image']['name']
therefore
$query="UPDATE categories SET catname='$ud_catname',
image='".$_FILES['ud_image']['name']."', parentid='$parentid' WHERE
catid='$ud_catid'";
should work.
