Actually, this was the crucial error. With this correct, (and the
enctype correct) you could have done
$query="UPDATE categories SET catname='$ud_catname',
image='{$image["name"]}', parentid='$parentid' WHERE
catid='$ud_catid'";
Soooo simple...<smacks head>
