If you are getting blank stares from clients, perhaps you need to
educate them more?

They should be giving you work because they trust you AND you have
educated them to where it does make sense.
As any reader of this group knows I work with Flash a lot. A huge
part of my job is to educate clients about Flash. Most people's
knowledge of Flash is the stupid Splash screen, or some silly "Joe
Cartoon" animation. This hardly covers the power of what Flash can do
for a client, and it is my job is to educate them about the awesome
power of Flash.
At the same time, it is also my job to education them about the "dark"
side of Flash. If I do not educate them on BOTH of these subjects,
then I have not done my job. By educating them, showing them
examples, giving them both the pros and cons of Flash, I educate them,
and gain their trust.
So you have to do both. They have to trust you, and you have to
educated them so they can make an informed decision.
