Running apache 2.2.4, php 4.4.7-dev.

Attempting to run Gallery2, I get
Error: your PHP __FILE__ directive is not functioning correctly.
Please file a support request with your webserver administrator or in
the Gallery forums.

Everything I'm seeing says this should be fixed in php 4.3.

Is there something else I'm missing? This is on a OS/X box.
