....you mean like what the 'Europeans' tried to do to the Americas
(successfully, I might add) and Africa (unsuccessfully)? In our culture,
perhaps they would be called 'missionaries'. :/... and don't tell me that
christian forces in the Americas or Africa didn't slaughter innocent
bystanders... :/

It's simple people... blind faith leads to blind atrocities... simple as
that. Any 'ism' is bad, taken to extremes, our culture included.

....yet more evidence that what is good for the goose isn't good for the
gander.

What makes our 'belief' any better than anybody else's? Our own culture has
a long, long history of similar treatment of other peoples different from
our own. Witness (for just one example), slavery... the economic powerhouse
that built the (southern parts at least) of USA. Or, for another.... the
Spanish Inquisition. Or, yet another... the Crusades of Richard III...

Where I come from, the number of people born 'catholic' is increasing. Does
this mean that catholocism (small C) is a bad thing? By our standards, of
course not. What if the Jews increased their number? Would that be bad? If
we have a standard, it must be applied without predjudice.

It's only when folks follow their faith blindly that bad things happen.
There is nothing inherently wrong with being Muslim. Islamic values are very
similar to our own, christian values.

If you follow the line that Islam is a 'bad' thing, then you must also
accept that Christianity is a 'bad' thing. It's *extremism* that is the bad
thing, not the faith.

Don't get me wrong... I don't support the imposition of anybody's will over
anybody else. It just appears to me that there is a lack of clarity over
what is 'right' or 'wrong' lately...

Sad... History has taught us nothing.
