The difference being that those two browsers were never touting as
being 'the master of standards'. A lot of people, for a long time,
were going around running at the fuckin mouth claiming that Opera was
meeting nearly all (or in some cases claiming all) of the W3Cs
recommended standards.

But on the other hand you can do a LOT more style wise with IE7
BECAUSE it doesn't adhere to the DEFICIENT standards. See that's the
real trick of it, IE may not MEET the standards, but in many ways it
EXCEEDS them. Where as with a browser like Opera...it's just
deficient. But, again, Flash is be all and end all solution since any
exceeded functionality you can get with IE can be done, and better,
with Flash and it has the advantage of being cross browser compatible.
