 Job Responsibilities:
 The Sr. DBA will work as a senior member of the R&D group to build new
 databases, optimize existing databases, and maintain all database
 servers within the company. The DBA will work closely with the
 development team in the implementation of new products and
 functionality that require data from a repository under his or her
 management. The DBA will be required to track technical requirements,
 do product evaluations, capacity and performance analysis, budgeting,
 as well as to communicate with various vendors, technical support
 organizations and other departments.
 Responsibilities:
 ** Work with the development group to define data requirements and
 relationships. Make use of entity-relationship modeling tools, such as
 ERWin, to design new databases for optimal performance and data
 retrieval. Reverse-engineer existing databases to optimize for
 performance and data management. Document database schemas, stored
 procedures, access privileges, etc.
 ** Develop high performance relational databases to store content,
 user personalization information, and billing/tracking data, etc.
 Develop and implement maintenance and administration procedures for
 the database systems.
 ** Ensures that backups are performed regularly on all databases.
 ** Work closely with software engineers to develop and maintain stored
 procedures, compiled SQL, etc. Ensure that data access methods,
 database kernel patches, APIs, etc. are kept current.
 ** Develop a system for gathering database performance metrics. Using
 these metrics, develop a plan to ensure that database systems are
 correctly configured for optimal performance. Manage and/or
 participate in implementation of database system tuning, to ensure
 optimal performance.
 ** Ensure that database systems are adequately monitored. Develop and
 implement a plan to ensure maximum reliability and availability of
 database systems. Proactively monitor database system status to
 determine early warning signs of problems.
 ** Author and maintain scripts to perform various aspects of
 administration. The DBA will document these scripts and maintain them
 in the source repository.
 
 Qualifications, Education and Experience:
 
 Required:
 ** 5 years experience as a DBA.
 ** 3 years experience of MySQL and MS SQL administration and tuning in
 a NT environment
 **  Strong working knowledge of SQL
 ** Must have strong knowledge of data relationships, data
 normalization
 ** Excellent communications skills in English
 ** Proficiency with PC applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
 Project and Windows.
 ** Extensive experience with and knowledge of the Internet and the
 associated technology and architecture.
 
 Desired:
 ** Programming skills in .Net
 ** B.Sc. degree in computer science or related field
