Well I have Windows XP on a HP brand laptop and I called the dealer at
CompUSA who sold me
the computer, warned me strongly that I shouldnt be using a laptop for
software or
website development, becuase the AMD TURION64 in my motherboard is not
fast enough
to process files for a offline PHP server. For that matter, he said
that only desktops
with Intels chips can be used for PHP website development or for that
matter any
software development. Most importantly he emphasized, "Dont use
Laptops" for software
development. Then he went on to state that AMD CPUs are not built like
Intel chips
to endure long hours of abuse from software development. Then he said
that a windows 95 computer
should be sufficient enough to support a PHP system as long as it has
a intel chip such as
a P2. Which is what I have...
