Also - I would get rid of that programmer in a second. Anyone who
thinks that mysql_pconnect() is necessary doesn't understand PHP or
MySQL. What is his explanation for it being necessary?
In the vast majority of websites, using mysql_pconnect() will hurt more
than it it will help.
