Grrr... I got configure working and now am blocked by 'make'.
I get the following error:
main/.libs/output.o(.text+0x7ad): In function `php_ob_init_named':
/usr/local/src/php-5.1.6/main/output.c:424: undefined reference to
`php_ob_gzhandler_check'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [sapi/cli/php] Error 1
