to act as people in modern times should act according to modern rules
and any display of individuality, character, or other such waywardness
is strictly prohibited.
Think along these lines: it's a lot like Css. You don't want to foul up
the works any further by bucking the strictures and procedures which at
least have a uniform measure of mediocrity.
