I don't really think that is necessarily in the purview of PHP.net, they
have supplied an exceptionally good manual along with a basic tutorial.
I find that their are any number of good tutorials out there to continue
along the road you personally wish to take. Though I am not saying that
some of them couldn't be improved upon or updated to take into account the
latest versions.
Something I find particularly annoying especially when working my way
through a tutorial is to find that I am spending hours trying to find out
why my scripts don't work only to find out that it's because it's due to a
change in versions. Usually the only way I find this out is through looking
through newsgroups and stumbling upon the answer.
