Having (mildly) criticised the manual,
I feel I must spring to its defence here.
First of all, it is by far the best on-line tutorial
among the 3 or 4 that google gave me when asked "php (tutorial, howto)".
Secondly, if you already know php,
it is not clear what you want from a tutorial.
Thirdly, as a php newbie (but fairly experienced in C and Java)
I found the tutorial very useful.
My criticism - if you can call it that -
was that it could have stooped lower for the newbie.
