In the past I have been able to successfully use MyODBC to interface MS
Access to on-line MySQL databases.
About three months ago the ability to link to new tables in an on-line
database was lost. I've been noodling away at it hoping this would be
restored but it has not and now it is needed. To be clear about this --
tables that were previously linked still work -- it is only when we want to
change a table or link a new one that there is trouble.
My install of MyODBC is 3.51.11 although 3.51.06 was also tried -- it did
not work either.
The database is version 4.0.25-standard -- I have no control over this.
The ODBC parameters are
Name: OnLineMeetings
Server: 70.84.201.130
User: rhodeisl_ft310
Password: billwilson
Database: rhodeisl_RISC
After completing this entry -- the test button is clicked and it tests
successfully.
Access is Access 2002 Service Pack 3.
The method of connecting is to use the link table capability (File > Get
External Data > Link Table and select ODBC databases and then select
'OnLineMeetings')
When the connection fails it mentions 'msjet40.dll' version 4.0.9025. I
checked C:\Windows\System32 and this dll is there (dated 7/19/2004 and is
1,473 KB)
I saw something somewhere about this DLL but can not find it now and my
memory of this is that it is inconculsive.
The OS is Windows 2000 Service Pack 5.
I have tried to link from an empty (and newly generated) MS Access
database -- it similiarly fails.
Any help will be appreciated.
