I have 3 installed myself, including the all-too-builtin browser
Internet Explorer. My primary browser is Opera, but I also use IE and
Firefox to test new website designs for flaws. I always make sure the
websites I'm contributing to design-wise look good in all the three
mentioned using the same stylesheet.

Better yet, both are open-source. You can download the source code
yourself, make tweaks, and compile on a different platform if you wish
(something which, by the way, requires programming skills on the target
platform).

Please keep in mind the fact that "most users" doesn't mean "all
users". I use Opera, and it has a nice preference feature:
"Identify as Mozilla", "Identify as Opera" and "Identify as Internet
Explorer".

If memory serves right, Firefox and/or Mozilla also has a similar
option. These facts taken into account may or may not make your
visitors' browser statistics useless, as some percentage of the "IE"
users could be using a browser that disguises itself.

The reason for disguising itself as an IE browser, is that some sites
are foolish enough to _require_ from their visitors that they use IE or
Netscape. All others are refused access. This comes from so-called
sysadmins and webmasters without a clue. If created correctly, and with
standards implemented (note: global standards, not Microsoft-based
"standards"), a site should work in any browser, be it IE, Opera,
Firefox, Netscape, Safari or even Lynx.
