Silly 100% height idea ;-)
Well, how about just faking it? Have two nested containing elements
(to encompass both sidebars and content area), and give one of them a
repeating image on the left, the other a repeating image on the right,
where each image is just the colour you want for those sidebars.
Btw - I just clicked the two links you gave, and am not seeing any
sidebar at all. Did you change them?
