If you are using Apache you also have the option of using the rewrite
rule to change your urls - for example

http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?a=foo&b=bar
to
http://www.mydomain.com/foo/bar

If you are interested there is plenty of info on the net about the
apache rewrite rule...
