remedy:

<input name="abc" type="text" style="background-color:White;">

<textarea name="def" cols="50" rows="4" wrap="virtual"
style="background-color:#FFFFFF;"></textarea>

both styles do the same thing. sets it to white. in the same manner, you
can set other fields to Yellow to show them as required (or whatever) -
ahh - why did Google do that to us?
