That they may change isn't wrong. But the fact that they change on
some pages but not others looks inconsistent.

Wondering if the other language versions have the same problem, I had
a look at the Italian version and found

Only in the sense that that's what I looked at. You should know
whether you follow consistent practices across language barriers.

I don't understand. How does it skip the navigation links? And what
has the smallness of the image have to do with the alt text? Why should
a search engine, a reader who has image loading switched off or someone
using a plain text browser see the words "Vänligen gå direkt till
huvudinnehåll" when perusing the English version of the site?

What's confusing about it? I'd say it's confusing that people _can't_
get to the English home page simply by entering.
