Now I've tried
<P style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana; color: black">
text line 1 <BR>
text line 2 <BR>
</P>

but it wraps long lines, which is unacceptable, of course.
I've read about <TT> as an alternative to <pre>. What is the best way
to put in preformatted text and have it not wrap?
