If *anyone* deserves a ballot appearance for the Jim Nitchals Memorial
"Internet Samaritan" Award, then Vinton Cerf is a prime example of a
model nominee for this esteemed honour. Vinton co-authored the TCP/IP
protocol while he was a graduate student (unpaid) at UCLA, and he is
universally recognised as one of the true founding-fathers of the
Internet (sorry, Al Gore).
