I don't dabble in that. But you're running Win98 -- anything that can run
even Win98 can run one of plenty of current news clients.

Xnews is one of the most popular in the Windows world. It will copy
newsgroup reply to en email address, and you can send a reply email
instead of a newsgroup reply, but there's no POP; i.e., you can't download
mail (because it's, well, a news client). That's a common setup with
stand-alone news clients. I think Agent is the same. Pan certainly is.
Dialog is. There are others. If you're interested, check in at
news.software.readers, a good and knowledgeable group. See you there,
