Hi Art. You will need to go to each player you have and set the file
types for which you want it to play. You can have conflicts if you
check to play the same file type on more than one player. If you have
one of the most recent Real players, it has an advanced menu to allow
setting it, but moreover this menu tells you what other player may be
set as the default player for a file type Real also will play. If worst
comes to worst, a clean install of Firefox might help, rather than an
install over an old version of Firefox. You have to be very careful
here though, as you could lose all of your saved information on
Firefox. Again, since there are so many possible causes of the sort of
problem you describe, you may need to go to one of the Firefox/Mozilla
discussion groups for help.
