Martijn, has made the most important point. In order to choose the
best database for your needs you need to look at what specific
activities your application requires, the expected user loads that the
application will need to support, and how these requirements can be
handled by the database products in question.
Part of the answer might depend on what tool sets you want to use for
the front-end.
