Your server could be located in America, while your application is focussed

The fix is to follow the instruction and to apply the
date_default_timezone_set() function:
date_default_timezone_set('UTC');
$a = mktime(14, 0, 0, 12, 20, 2005);
echo date('d/m/Y', $a);
Instead of UTC, you can use any of the ones listed on the following page:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/timezones.php
