Dialup modems do not *HAVE* MAC addresses.

You may end up with a whole bunch of clients with *local* (that is,
what the client thinks its own IP address is) of 192.168.0.100
because a lot of routers of a popular brand assign that address to
the first client that asks. What useful information have you gotten
from this?

So in what way does the information you want help you with that?

For a laptop, which IP or MAC address do you want, the
firewire interface, the hardwired ethernet interface, or the WLAN
card interface? You do not necessarily know which one is in
use.
