As far as php and MySQL are concerned I am a baby - MS Access I am
reasonably competent. I have purchased a book about PHP and MySQL and I am
stuck on the installation and starting.
PHP Installs OK and works
MySQL 4.1 Installed OK and won't work.
I have installed both locally on my computer running WindowsXP (I need to
learn locally before I put it on the internet)
Using the configuration wizard I do the following- using defaults (mostly):-
Reconfigure Instance
Detailed Configuration
Developer Machine
Multifunction Database
InnoDB Tablespace is set to C:\Installation Path
Decision Support (DSS)/OLAP
DISABLE TCP/IO Networking since at this stage I am local (and workbook
advises it)
Standard Character set
Install as Windows service (MySQL41 (Launched Automatically)
Modify security is not set - at this stage I don't need it
Then when I press finish - every thing starts perfectly - HOWEVER
in the split second it starts - it stops. Checking in Control Panel >
Administrative Tools > Services. It is NOT Running, In trying to start there
service manually the following errors occur
The MySQL service could not be started
System error 1067 has occurred
The process terminated unexpectedly
Also along the way sometimes I have noted that there is an error 2003.
My research has shown that it may be looking for a database - if that is the
case I see a chicken and egg situation. I need MySQL to make a database.
MySQL needs a database to run - but in a fresh installation surely there has
to be a starting point, or maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.
I have searched the internet using this error codes. And forum after forum I
have not found an answer specific to my problem (as far as I can see). Often
a similar problem is posted, and the reply has been - "I have the same
problem too" Frustrating. I have been trying to research the problem for
near on three weeks now, so any help would be appreciated.
SUMMARY: MySQL Service Terminates unexpectedly on my Local Computer. System
error 1067 (and 2003 as cropped up somewhere along the line too)
Many thanks to all who can assist me with this dilemma.
