It's not that it's hard to read, it's just that it's ridiculously hard to
add extra functionality to, as the slightest change can have unforseen and
far-reaching consequences. It's quite possibly the worst-coded PHP I've
ever seen. I scrapped OSCommerce, and coded a store in 2 weeks. We still
had to use it for the back-end, but getting rid of it on the front-end
allowed me to completely customise the behaviour and look of the site.
