The society's name should be the <h1> content, as it is, therefore the
logo and the graphic of the text is decorative.

The level doesn't matter, any header used in sidebar content is wrong.
Look at the FF screen shot I uploaded earlier in the thread, it shows
the document outline in it's panel, does that look like a correct Table
Of Contents for the index page?
