HTTP_REFERER is never reliable. It may work fine - but depending on the
browser, firewall, proxies and a lot of other things, you may or may not get a
referrer. And even if you do, you can't be sure it's correct.

I'd suggest you look for a different way of identifying the origin - like
perhaps an affiliate id sent as a GET parameter.
