Yes, but it's expensive; i.e., time consuming, because that header is not
in the server's XOVER database and after Xnews polls new posts there it
has to then repoll the server with reference to XHDR to get Newsgroups
headers.
If you still want to do that, your syntax is:
Newsgroups: alt.2600
I don't think you have to escape that period, but if it doesn't work that
way use: alt\.2600
I trust you know how to set up the rest of the rule. If not, read the
scoring text file in your Xnews directory or get back to me here.
What kills those posts for me is this line:
Xref: .*:.*:.*:.*:.*
That bins anything posted to more than three groups.
I don't *think* that's expensive scoring.
The best place for Xnews help (and it's full of scoring wizards; note
that Xnews allows regex in rules) is its de facto (as noted in the manual)
support group, news.software.readers. It's a fine group, gurus live
there, it's the first group I do every time I make a news run.)
In fact, it's good for most any popular client except IE.
