My impression is that there are wide variations in what you get on a VPS.
For example, do you get a control panel like PLESK or cPANEL? Or do you
have nothing more than command line access to the OS?
If you get a control panel, how many domains is it licensed for?
What software packages are bundled in with the control panel?
How much RAM and CPU speed do you get?
Do they give you a good/easy way to administer your DNS entries?
Is it easy to register new domains?
Do they have a good deal on security certificates, and how easy is it to
administer them?

I'm using HostMySite for VPS, and I have to say I really like them. They
aren't the cheapest, but I have found the VPS easy to administer, and their
tech support is very responsive. They seem to employ actual people who
actually answer technical inquiries!
PLESK, by the way, saves me an incredible amount of time.
