Do some looking around for hosting companies. Here in the United States, you
can get minimal hosting without advertisements for $2.00/mo. Not a lot of
features or space, but enough for a "small personal site".
www.webhostingtalk.com also has a lot of offers and discussions about hosts. A
good site, but be sure to check out the reputation of the offers before you buy.
There are some great ones and some not so good ones (as always).
And one I recommend is www.themooseisloose.net. It's $2.95/mo. for their
smallest package, but you can get a 50% discount by getting an annual subscription.
And you don't need your own IP address. Shared hosts often have dozens of sites
on one IP address. The web server takes care of sorting out the requests.
