Why is nano a bad suggestion. Remember this: Text editors allow you to
edit text files.

You can get syntax files which allow you to set hilighting using
regular expressions (files for major languages, such as PHP come as
part of the package).

This can be done as part of the syntax hilighting.

I don't see how someone can get mad at someone else for simply
expressing their opinion or making a suggestion. Surely following this
line of thinking I could flame people for suggesting Windows text
editors when the OP could have wanted one for Linux? (KEdit is good, if
you do ;-))
