Yes, php works correctly. I looked at that configuration page for
anything related to __FILE__ but didn't see anything.

The Gallery2 installation in itself is PHP (installation.php). Step 2
says
"System Checks
PHP Version
Success
FILE directive supported
Failed
Error: your PHP __FILE__ directive is not functioning correctly.
Please file a support request with your webserver administrator or in
the Gallery forums.


I'm at a loss. Everything I can find tells me it's a php bug that's
fixed, but I'm using 4.4.7-dev, so....

Maybe I'll try a new development version.
