Hello Andra,

Try using

iconv('ISO-8859-1', 'ASCII//IGNORE', $str);

instead of

iconv('ISO-8859-1', 'ASCII//TRANSLIT', $str);

You can find more detailed info at http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.iconv.php
