Sorry, I agree with Lateralus. There's only so much you can put in one manual
and still have it useful. Too much and it becomes too awkward to be effectively
usable. That's why there are other resources available - like books, magazines,
web sites, etc.

I learned PHP from the manual, with some help from other web sites - both
tutorials and code. I still use the manual - I don't remember every single
function, it's parameters, etc. And I'm glad it's not over stuff with useless
(to me) stuff.

Don't expect everything to be handed to you. Like any language, PHP takes time
and effort on your part to learn. So instead of crying about things not being
handed to you, go to the library or bookstore and get a good beginning book on
PHP. Start searching the web for good tutorials. IOW, get some initiative!
