I suggest that you
- read basic documentation on linux, telling you about the location of
log files and all the other things you *must* know
- read basic documentation about starting MySQL (see dev.mysql.com/doc).
Usually you'll find the reason why MySQL doesn't start in its own
error file. Its name and location depend on the settings in the MySQL
configuration files and compile-time options. All these things are
described in the MySQL documentation, there's no point repeating them
here.
