It isn't actually possible to do that on a laptop machine without great
difficulty as the alt+keypad combinations require that you use the
keypad numbers, but my laptop doesn't have one ;)

Must be your version of Windows? I presume you have a Dutch version? I'm
just guessing now that maybe the localised versions are different, or
that there is some different set-up with non-UK keyboards...
