Little finally proclaimed:

Works in all of the apps I have. I am now beginning to think that this
is something that works only in UK versions of Windows using a UK layout
keyboard.

It's a key between the space bar and the right Ctrl key. IIRC the "Gr"
bit means Graphic, or at least that's what IBM have always said.
