Well, yes and no. If you do this in X the way you'ld do it in windows
(select, ctrl-v, select, ctrl-c), it works the same way. X has two
clipboards (well, one is called CLIPBOARD and the other is called
something else, maybe PRIMARY), one of which always contains whatever you
last selected (so is easy to overwrite), the other one is only replaced
when you explicitly copy. So look on the middle-click-paste thing as an
optional extra.
