Do What You Enjoy Most!

Like many others, you want to tap the vast business opportunities in the cyberspace. But what products or services should you sell? A decision has to be made very carefully.

For the novice internet marketers, a good way to kick-start your business is to join some online merchants reseller or affiliate programs. But do not just accept any reseller programs. Ask yourself what additional values can you add to the products and services that you intend to represent and who do you want to sell to - fellow internet marketers or the end consumers.

Many resellers succeed by creating an online community that reaches out to their prospects. They attract and retain likely prospects with value-added services such as free newsletters, free tools and resources, free advisory services and the like. Products and services are then offered to prospects as SOLUTIONS to their problems.

Notice how the traditional seller-customer relationship has been altered to our advantage to that of a solution provider. This concept has worked successfully in the insurance industry as many insurance agents can testify that they are not selling, but offering a solution to your financial planning need. The same concept can be applied effectively in Internet marketing.

So, to all aspiring Internet marketers - do you have any specialized skills, knowledge or experience that you can share with others?

You need not restrict your choices to those in the computer and Internet-related industries. Neither should you restrict yourself to selling only to Internet marketers. As more and more people get online, online shopping will become a norm and there will be demand for practically everything under the sun from the end consumers!

So, ask yourself what you enjoy doing most. It is human nature that when you enjoy doing something, you will have an intense interest and enthusiasm to learn and understand everything about it. Work will become a pleasure, and not some chores that you dread doing everyday. This positive state of mind will certainly show up in the way you sell and conduct your business.

You may start off by listing down your hobbies, interests or the things you like most. Then evaluate each one accordingly to identify one that will allow you to capitalize most on your
existing skills, knowledge, resources, business contacts and work experience.

For example, an experienced golfer may consider setting up an online community to share his experience with other golfing enthusiasts. He can also run a golfing newsletter to provide useful information on how to improve ones golfing techniques, use the right equipment, and the like.

This newsletter would help to attract regular visitors and add credibility to what he has to offer for sale. It will also make his job of securing an agency rights easier if he has an active website to support his business proposal.

While there is no hard and fast rule, we believe that creating an online community should be his first step in setting up an online business. There will be many selling opportunities thereafter. He can organize golfing trips to exotic golf courses, conduct golfing classes, sell memberships to a country club or set up an online store selling golf equipment, books or clothing.
